Company Overview:

GM Sugar and Energy Ltd., is a part of the prestigious GM Group of Companies. The Company has taken the 1250 tcd sugar factory at Sangur which was under the management of a Cooperative Society, The Karnataka Saharkara Sakhara Kharkahane Ltd., on a 30 year lease from 18th Feb 2008 with a view to rehabilitate the sugar mill and safeguard the interests of all the stakeholders, namely the cane growers, the Government, financial institutions and the employees. Within 3 years of the commencement of the lease period, the Company has embarked on a very ambitious plan for expansion of cane crushing capacity to 2500 tcd and establishment of a 18 mW cane cogeneration project. Both these projects are due for commissioning shortly.

Chairman’s vision:

Our Chairman’s vision is the revival of the sugar factory, successful expansion-cum-modernization and diversification to cane cogeneration in the shortest possible timeframe. Vision mission statement: Our vision is to ensure that our sugar factory achieves all round excellence in all spheres of activities from cane planting to sugar manufacture, including power export; exceeding the performance of the best in the industry. Our mission is to work tirelessly to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves, according to the time schedule set.

Project in progress:

The sugar factory expansion is being executed in two phases. The expansion of the boiling house which is being done in the first phase has commenced in the off season of 2009-10 crushing season and is expected o be completed by the end of April or May 2011. The expansion of the mill house, which is due to be executed in the second phase, will be done during the 2010-11 off season. The establishment of cane cogeneration is in an advanced stage and is expected to be completed by April/ May 2011.
